Community Activity Sitting Service

CASS operates in Hartlepool and has been developed to meet the needs of people living with dementia and their carers. It aims to provide activities both within the home and in the community in order to help people with dementia to remain as independent as possible and to continue to be included in social activities.

Clients use the Activity Service to access leisure facilities and to be supported in such activities as going shopping, going to the cinema or museums, attending tea dances or going out for lunch. They can also be helped to visit family or friends and attend sporting or cultural events.

The Sitting Service provides personal care and social stimulation within the client’s own home and this also allows respite for carers. We play board games, carry out craft activities and listen to music. It is very much up to the client to decide what they want to do. Staff also prepare snacks in the home if the client wishes.

The service is usually available in 3 hour sessions from Monday to Saturday between 9am and 12 noon or 1pm and 4 pm. However if clients or carers need a service outside of these hours we are happy to discuss this.

If the client is assessed as being entitled to local authority financial support then the service can be paid for through a Direct Payment budget. If not then the service can be purchased privately at £14.18 per hour.
