Gretton Court Nursing Home |

| Excellence in Care for People with DementiaGretton Court is our nursing home for people with dementia. It was built in 1995 and became part of the Hospital of God in 2008. Since then we have carried out a wide range of improvements to the building and the gardens surrounding Gretton Court. We have a further programme of improvement works for 2012. The most recent Care Quality Commission inspection took place in April 2009 and the home has a “2 star, Good” rating. We are working towards and “Excellent” rating at the next inspection. Our Home Manager is Mrs Andrea Atkinson and her contact details are at the bottom of this page. Our philosophy of care is to maximize the opportunities and potential of each resident and provide them with the highest standards of physical and emotional care and stimulation. There is nothing more important to us than the happiness and well being of our residents. | | | | | | | ServicesGretton Court is a purpose built nursing home for elderly people with mental illness and specializes in caring for people with dementia. There are 32 full time places and one short stay room offering respite care. We have a team of managers, nurses, care staff and support staff and we aim to provide a secure and stimulating home where residents are able to achieve the greatest degree of contentment and well being possible. All meals are prepared in our own kitchen and our kitchen staff discuss menus with the residents to find out their likes and dislikes. We are therefore able to cater for individual tastes and dietary needs. The kitchen has a 5 star award for hygiene from Hartlepool Borough Council. We provide a full laundry service for residents and take great care to ensure that residents always have a supply of clean clothes. Our links with the community include the services of a chiropodist, hairdresser and barber at a reasonable charge. We recognise the importance of health care for residents and Gretton Court has good links with local consultant psychiatrists and psychiatric nurses as well as local GPs. The greatest possible independence, dignity and well being of all who live at Gretton Court is our priority. Our caring and friendly staff help residents lead positive and rewarding lives. We have an active social programme, run by our Activities Coordinator, and residents are also encouraged to maintain family and community links wherever possible. | | | | | | Applying for a Place If you or your relative is interested in a place at Gretton Court our Home Manager, Andrea Atkinson will meet with you and your relative to talk about care needs and the services that we provide. Amongst the areas that Andrea will discuss are: - Personal care needs, physical and mental well being
- Maintaining links with family and community
- Personal independence while living with us and how we make sure that you can continue to do as much as you can for yourself
- Any particular needs relating to medication, falls, continence, mental condition or mobility
- Hobbies and interests
Andrea may also come to see you at home if necessary and talk with your relatives with your permission. Residents initially move in on a 6 week trial basis and towards the end of that period there is a review meeting to find out if everyone is happy with the situation. During this period the resident can get the feel of the home and they and their family can decide whether they will be happy in the home. People can find the process of moving into a nursing home strange and upsetting and our staff will do everything they can to play a supportive, sensitive and understanding role, particularly during the weeks after arrival. | | | | | | | FeesThe fees for residential care at Gretton Court are currently £418 -£450 per week. There are no “top ups” required from the family. Some residents pay all of their own fees and others receive a contribution from the local council in the area in which they lived before they come to us. We will be happy to explain the local council financial assessment process for new residents. Fees include all care and accommodation costs, food and drink, heating and lighting, laundry done on the premise and any other staff services. Fees do not cover the cost of newspapers, hairdressing, dry cleaning, taxis, chiropody, treatment by dentist or opticians or the purchase of clothing and personal effects. In addition there is a fee of £112.70 for nursing care and this is paid for by the NHS through the local primary care trust. | | | | | | | | | | Contact For further information please contact Mrs Andrea Atkinson, the Home Manager, Gretton Court , 1 Heather Grove, Hartlepool TS24 8QZ.
