Seaham Day Centre

Seaham Day Centre provides day care for older people with dementia and support for their carers. It is open Monday to Friday and transport and lunch are provided.

Our day centre provides personal care in a warm and friendly atmosphere, created to ensure our guests enjoy their day.

Guests are usually collected by our minibus and the first part of the day is spent settling in and with group games and discussions, Guests do not have to take part if they do not want to and may sit quietly or in small groups if they wish. Lunch is provided on the premises and served in the dining area. There is a choice of activities in the afternoon, with crafts, TV or games being available. We also have a library of books films and music. Transport home is provided at the end of the afternoon.

We also provide personal care including assistance with bathing in our purpose built bathroom, help with using the toilet if needed, hairdressing, shaving, feeding and nail care.

Transport is provided in our adapted mini-bus which has a tailgate lift.

The day centre is available to anyone living in the Seaham, Seaton, Seaton Grange, Dawdon, Murton, South Hetton, Hawthorn, Easington Village, Cold Hesledon, and Dalton le Dale areas.

As well as providing a service for guests with dementia we support carers through our Carer Support Worker who provides information, practical help and social activities.

The cost of day care is met by the local authority who make a grant to the Hospital of God to provide the service. There is a contribution of £4.50 per day towards lunch for all guests.
